While the injury is painful and reportedly involves a split fingernail, sources including former England captain Nasser Hussain have indicated that the finger is not broken. However, Pant’s availability for the crucial third Test remains uncertain, particularly regarding his ability to bat.

Pant has been a key contributor with the bat in the series for India. Concerns about Pant’s batting availability intensified on Day 2 (July 11) after he was seen attempting batting drills on the sidelines.
