India vs Bangladesh Highlights, CWC 2023, Virat Kohli Scores 48th Ton

Usually, matches between India vs Bangladesh are closely contested. But today India convincingly defeated Bangladesh by 7 wickets at the MCA stadium in Pune. The Indian team delivered a clinical performance, extending its winning streak. India excelled in all departments, making them currently invincible. With this victory, India has moved one step closer to securing a spot in the 2023 World Cup semifinals.

India vs Bangladesh Toss and Team

The cricket match between India and Bangladesh took place at the MCA stadium in Pune. Bangladesh’s captain, Najmul Hossain Shanto, won the toss and chose to bat. Unfortunately, the injured Shakib Al Hasan did not recover in time from his quad injury. Consequently, two changes were made to the Bangladesh team. Nasum Ahmed replaced Shakib, while Hasan Mahmud was brought into the side in place of Taskin Ahmed. The Indian team, on the other hand, did not make any changes.

Bangladesh Batting

On the batting-friendly pitch, the opening batsmen of Bangladesh provided a strong start. Both openers managed to score 50 runs each for the Bangladesh team. However, their momentum was halted when T. Hasan was dismissed by Kuldeep Yadav, who trapped him leg before wicket (LBW) after he had scored 51 runs from 43 deliveries.

After losing the first wicket, Bangladesh skipper Najmul Hossain Shanto and Hasan Mahmud were dismissed cheaply, scoring 8 and 3 runs, respectively. Litton Das, who had batted well, was also dismissed shortly for 66 runs from 82 deliveries, courtesy of Ravindra Jadeja. He was caught on the boundary line by Shubman Gill.

Later, the lower-order batsmen M. Rahim and Mahmudullah batted really well, which helped Bangladesh cross the 250-run mark. Bangladesh scored 256 and the Indian team needed to score 257 to win the game.

India Bowling

Once again, Bumrah maintained accuracy in his line and length, denying the batsmen any opportunities to score runs. He claimed 2 wickets for 41 runs in his 10 overs. Similarly, Ravindra Jadeja also secured 2 wickets for 38 runs in his 10 overs, playing a crucial role in the middle overs to stifle the opposition’s scoring. Mohammad Siraj, however, took 2 wickets but was expensive, conceding 60 runs in his 10 overs. Overall, the Indian bowlers did a great job in restricting Bangladesh to 256 runs.

India Bating

India comfortably chased down the target of 256 in just 41.3 overs, losing three wickets in the process. The Indian team had a fantastic start as both Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill consistently attacked the bowlers all around the field. However, Rohit Sharma was dismissed for 48 (off 40 balls) by Hasan Mahmud, and Shubman Gill lost his wicket after scoring 53 (off 55 balls) to Mehidy Hasan’s bowling.

S. Iyer was dismissed for 19 runs off 25 balls. However, Kohli remained rock solid, and KL Rahul played cautiously. Virat Kohli scored a scintillating century, reaching 103 runs from 97 deliveries, while Rahul scored 34 runs from an equal number of balls. Both of them remained unbeaten until the end.

Bangladesh Bowling

For Bangladesh, M. Hasan was the standout bowler, taking 2 wickets for 47 runs in his 10 overs. H. Mahmud picked up one wicket but conceded 65 runs in 8 overs, resulting in an expensive figure. The remaining bowlers were unable to perform up to the mark.

Hardik Pandya Injury Update

All-rounder Hardik Pandya suffered an injury and had to leave the field. Pandya bowled his first over in the ninth over. Litton Das hit the ball straight to the boundary. While attempting to stop the four, Pandya tried to use his right leg but slipped, twisting his ankle in the process. So he was forced to leave the field. Virat Kohli took over to complete the over for Pandya.

BCCI provided an update on Hardik Pandya’s injury on the X, stating that “Hardik Pandya’s injury is being assessed at the moment and he is being taken for scans.”

India is now in the second position with 8 points. New Zealand holds the first position with 8 points, Even though both India and New Zealand are at the same points, New Zealand are ahead of India with a better net run rate.
