Earlier, India won the toss and elected to field first against Pakistan. India made one change in their lineup, with Ishan Kishan being replaced by Shubman Gill. Pakistan, on the other hand, retained their team without any alterations. The pitch was in excellent batting condition, and both teams anticipated scoring around 300 runs.
India vs Pakistan: Pakistan Batting
Pakistan’s opening batsmen got off to a good start. The partnership was broken by Mohammed Siraj when the score reached 41, as he dismissed A. Shafique after he had scored 20 runs. Later, at a score of 73, Imam-ul-Haq was also dismissed for 36, courtesy of Hardik Pandya.
Following that, Rizwan partnered with the skipper, Babar Azam, and they formed a terrific partnership. Babar Azam reached a significant milestone by notching up his first 50 runs of the tournament. However, shortly after reaching his half-century, Mohammed Siraj outfoxed him, toppling his stumps and sending him back to the pavilion.
When Babar Azam was dismissed, the score stood at 155/3. However, after his departure, the Pakistan batting order faced a significant setback, and their innings quickly unravelled, eventually getting bowled out for a total of 191 runs
Mohammad Rizwan was unfortunate to fall just short of his half-century, being dismissed for 49 by a deceptive slower ball delivered by Jasprit Bumrah. Unfortunately, the remaining batsmen struggled to find effective responses to the Indian bowlers, resulting in a challenging situation for the Pakistan team.
