Rohit Sharma was really upset with Shubman Gill after he got run out in his comeback match. India and Afghanistan were scheduled to play a 3-match T20I series, and the first match took place in Mohali on January 11.

India won the toss and chose to field. Afghanistan scored 158/5 in 20 overs, and India successfully chased down the target in 17.3 overs with 6 wickets in hand.

Unfortunately, it wasn’t good news for Rohit Sharma personally. He had returned to the T20I side after more than a year but faced only 2 balls and scored 0 runs before getting run out.

Facing Fazalhaq Farooqi, Rohit hit the ball to mid-off where Ibrahim Zadran tried to stop it but fumbled a bit. Rohit wanted a run as soon as he hit the ball, running to the danger end at the bowler’s end. However, Shubman Gill didn’t see or hear Rohit’s call and kept watching the ball.

When Ibrahim Zadran threw the ball to wicketkeeper Rahmanullah Gurbaz, and he dislodged the stumps, both Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill at the bowler’s end. Rohit Sharma was run out without scoring a run, ending up with a duck. It was Rohit Sharma’s call, and he easily made it to the crease at the bowler’s end. If Shubman Gill had noticed skipper Rohit Sharma, they could have easily completed the run. Unfortunately, Rohit Sharma got out.

So, Rohit Sharma was furious with Shubman Gill and expressed his anger on the pitch. His frustration was evident, and in the post-match presentation, Rohit Sharma mentioned, “These things happen. You get frustrated when such incidents take place. I wanted Shubman Gill to play a long innings.”

However, Rohit Sharma’s early dismissal didn’t affect the outcome as India won the match with 6 wickets to spare. Shivam Dube was awarded the Player of the Match for his impressive performance, contributing 60 runs off 40 balls with the bat and achieving figures of 9/1 in 2 overs with his bowling effort.
