Suryakumar Yadav Will Lead India vs Australia T20I Series

The Cricket World Cup fever has subsided after Australia clinched the cup by defeating India by 6 wickets. Indian fans are still grappling with the sadness of the loss. However, the India vs Australia T20I series is set to kick off on November 23rd, spanning five matches until December 3rd.

The BCCI announced the squad for the upcoming T20I series against Australia, appointing Surya Kumar Yadav as the team’s captain. Australia had already unveiled their side last month. Please check the schedule and venue for the matches.

India vs Australia T20I Series Squads:

The Team India Squad: Suryakumar Yadav (C), Ruturaj Gaikwad (VC), Ishan Kishan, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Tilak Varma, Rinku Singh, Jitesh Sharma (WK), Washington Sundar, Axar Patel, Shivam Dubey, Ravi Bishnoi, Arshdeep Singh, Prasidh Krishna, Avesh Khan, Mukesh Kumar, and Shreyas Iyer.

The Team Australia squad: Matthew Wade (capt), Travis Head, Steven Smith, Glenn Maxwell, Matt Short, Marcus Stoinis, Tim David, Josh Inglis, Aaron Hardie, Jason Behrendorff, Sean Abbott, Nathan Ellis, Kane Richardson, Adam Zampa, and Tanveer Sangha.

Several players from the Cricket World Cup 2023 have been rested for this series, including Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammad Shami, Mohammad Siraj, Ravindra Jadeja, KL Rahul, and Kuldeep Yadav. Shreyas Iyer will join the team from the 4th T20I after being given a break for the first 3 matches.

Notably, Suryakumar Yadav, Ishan Kishan, Prasidh Krishna, and Shreyas Iyer are the only four players from the World Cup squad included in the T20I squad against Australia.

Ruturaj Gaikwad will act as vice-captain for the initial 3 matches, with Shreyas assuming the vice-captaincy from the 4th match onward. Hardik Pandya, who previously led the T20 team for India, is still recovering from injury and hence is not part of the team for this series against Australia.

Meanwhile, in the Australian camp, Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc, David Warner and Josh Hazlewood are taking a rest and heading back home. However, the team retains Travis Head, Steven Smith, Glenn Maxwell, Josh Inglis, and Adam Zampa for the T20 series against India.
